How to Control Monster Spawns in Minecraft

"Minecraft" is a computer game independently developed by Markus "Notch" Persson and Jens Bergenstein; they released the open beta version in late 2010. In this game, you can play one of four different difficulty levels, each of which dictates how much damage you take and the monsters that spawn, with Normal difficulty being the default. The only difficulty that ultimately changes how monsters spawn is Peaceful difficulty, which turns off spawning altogether.

     Press "Esc" at any time in the game.

     Click "Options" in the pause menu.

     Click "Difficulty: X" until it says "Difficulty: Peaceful," where "X" is the current difficulty setting.
