Instructions
Click "Ctrl," "Alt," "Delete" to open the Windows Task Manager. Under the "Applications" tab, select all programs other than "WoW," then click "End Task" for each one. Torrent programs in particular suck up a lot of bandwidth. Click the "Processes" tab and select the programs you feel you can do without, clicking "End Task" for each one. Make sure to keep your audio devices, anti-virus and other essential programs active.
Disable all unnecessary "WoW" add-ons. Download and install "Addon Control Panel" (see Resources). While in the game, click "ESC" to access the Addon Control Panel. View the add-ons that are taking up the most memory and remove as many as you can.
Run adware, spyware and virus scanning programs regularly. All kinds of programs get installed on your computer when you install applications from the Internet, and they slow your computer performance considerably. Let the scanning programs delete these programs.
Reformat your hard drive if you believe malware has slowed your computer down beyond repair. Insert your boot disk into your DVD drive. Reboot your computer. Press a key when prompted to "Press any key to boot from CD." Follow the on-screen instructions.
