Reveal The Mines
There is a way to reveal which blocks in the minesweeper game are actually mines. Start a new game, and place the computer cursor inside the minesweeper window. Type the letters "XYZZY." Press the "Shift" and "Enter" key at the same time, and then press the "Enter" key again to activate the cheat. A white dot will appear in the top-left portion of the screen. For PC's running the Windows ME operating system and earlier, there is an alternate way to stop the timer at one second. At the beginning of a game, left-click the mouse on any tile. While holding the left-click button, press the "ESC" key quickly to minimize the widow. Open the window again to reveal that time has been stopped after one second.
Mine Hints
There are ways to guess where the mine is located on a minesweeper puzzle. A covered square will have a mine it if the square is immediately next to the number one. If there is an uncovered square, looked at the number of squares that surrounds the number. If the number of squares is equal to the uncovered square's number, then the squares will contain mines.
