How to Challenge Humans in Civilization III

Players of the "Civilization III" empire-buiilding strategy game can challenge other people over the Internet using the multiplayer mode. The multiplayer mode of this game allows you to play against friends or strangers from around the world. You can play head-to-head against another person or join games with several others. Some of the multiplayer games feature teams. To use the multiplayer feature, you must have either the "Play the World" or the "Conquest" expansion pack.

Instructions

  Start the "Civilization III" game, Select "Multiplayer," then "Internet" from the menus. You will enter the game lobby, where you will see a list of multiplayer games that you can join. The list will also show games that have already started. You will also see a chat area where you can interact with other players.

  Find the type of game you wish to play. There will be several varieties of games on the list. Each game is set up differently. The variables will include the number of players, turn limits and different starting eras. You also will see "ladder" games. You must be registered in a league to play these games.

  Double-click on a game to join. You may have to wait a while until all of the open spots are filled.Try to find a game that is almost full. Some games may be locked, which means you must know a password to join.

  Begin play once the game begins. Play as would in a single-player game. Each player will take turns until someone achieves a victory condition or the turn limit is reached.
