Cheats for Half-Life 2: Deathmatch

"Half Life 2: Deathmatch" is a popular multiplayer PC game. In the game, players compete against each other or on teams. Each player attempts to kill enemy players and there are rankings for players with the most kills. Players that seek an advantage when playing the game can use cheats; cheats can help a player with extra powers or abilities. For all the cheat codes, the player needs to first press the "~" key to open the console.

Change Game Perspective Cheats
- You can enter two cheat codes to change the in game perspective. Enter the code, "firstperson" to play the game in the first person perspective. Enter a second code, "thirdperson" to play the game in the third person perspective.
Health Cheats
- Extra heath cheats offer the player items that can heal at least some points. Entering the code, "give item_healthkit" provides one free health kit. A second code, "give item_healthvial" provides a health vial. You can enter another type of cheat code through the chat window. The cheat code "wantfullhealthforfree" will restore full health.
Weapons Upgrade Cheats
- Weapon upgrade cheats can give a player specific type of weapon. The code, "give weapon_frag" provides a grenade. A second code, "give weapon_pistol" provides a pistol. A third code, "give weapon_rpg" provides an RPG. The code, "give weapon_shotgun" provides a shotgun.
Spawn NPC Player Cheats
- The player can also spawn non-player characters. The code "give npc_alyx" spawns the Alyx NPC character. The player can spawn the Barney NPC character using the code "give npc_barney." Also, "give npc_citizen" spawns an NPC citizen character. A fourth code "give npc_kliener" spawns the Kliener NPC character.
Server Side Cheats
- Players that run their own game server can utilize server side cheats. These cheats are similar to regular console cheat codes and can be entered during gameplay. The code "kick [username/userid/userslot]" will kick a specified player from the server. A second code "spec_player [playername]" will place a selected player into spectator mode. A third code, "banid [userid]" will ban a selected player from the server. Finally, the code "killserver" will nuke a game outright by shutting down the server.
Using Cheats Cautiously
- Using in-game cheat codes should be done judiciously. Many game servers may kick a player that uses a cheat code. Double check with the server's rules before using a cheat. Some game servers may openly advertise that they allow cheats. Others may prohibit cheats of any type. Even if a game server allows the use of cheat codes, be aware that other players may not form the best opinion of your game efforts.
