How to Bind Keys to Voice Commands in Team Fortress 2

"Team Fortress 2" is a first-person shooter that is free and has quick-paced gameplay. Considering the game's hectic pace, using the pre-recorded voice commands can be too much of a bother, even if the commands are useful. To compensate for this, the game allows you to bind specific voice commands to any key or button on your keyboard or mouse. Before you begin binding keys, though, you'll need to have a firm understanding of the numerical representation of the game's three voice menus.

Instructions

    • 1

Enter into any match in "Team Fortress 2."

    • 2

Determine the numerical sequence of the voice command you want to bind. The first menu is represented by the "Z" key, the second menu is represented by the "X" key, and the third menu is represented by the "C" key. The numerical value for these menus are 0, 1 and 2, respectively. The voice commands in each of these menus is displayed beside their text.

    • 3

Open the console by pressing the tilde key (~). A window will appear that you can enter text into, similar to an instant messaging window in appearance.

    • 4

Type "bind " without the quotation marks and then the letter of the key you want to bind the voice command to. The key you want to bind the voice command to should be in quotation marks.

    • 5

Enter a space and type "voicemenu x y" with the quotation marks. Replace the "x" with the number of the menu you want to use, which was discovered in Step 2, and replace the "y" with the number beside the voice command you want, except subtracted by one. For example, to bind "Medic" to the "f" key, you would type bind "f" "voicemenu 0 0" into the console.

    • 6

Press the "Enter" key to bind the voice command to the key you inputted. You may close the console window again by pressing the tilde key.
