How to Move a World of Warcraft Folder

Underneath the graphical world of "World of Warcraft" are the more boring and mundane files that allow the world to take shape. The game contains eight main folders, ranging from Interface files to core game files. While moving most folders is not necessary, you may need to copy, paste or delete certain folders, such as the "WTF" folder, if the game becomes unstable. Moving the folders to the desired locations requires you to open the game's directory.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the "World of Warcraft" directory on your computer. The directory most likely appears under "Program Files" or "Program Files (x86)" in "Computer." The directory lists the current WoW folders.

    • 2

Drag the desired folder from the directory to the desktop, if you are removing a folder from the directory. For example, if you want to remove the "Logs" folder, hover over it with your mouse, click and hold the left mouse button and drag your mouse to your desktop. You may have to minimize the WoW directory window to do so.

    • 3

Replace a folder in the WoW directory by dragging a folder from another location to the directory. For example, if you want to replace the "Interface" folder with another "Interface" folder located on the desktop, you would drag the desktop folder into the directory. If any files are named the same, a box will pop up and ask you if you want to replace the old "Interface" folder files with the new "Interface" file folders.
