What Do You Use Achievement Points for on World of Warcraft?

The achievement system was first introduced into "World of Warcraft" in the "Wrath of the Lich King" Expansion Pack. You can't actually spend achievement points, but completing achievements will result in various types of in-game rewards. According to "World of Warcraft" designer Jeffrey Kaplan, "We found that players are always looking for bragging rights and recognition of their past accomplishments. It's more to feel like you got a trophy for doing something special, but in no way would this increase your character power."
  1. Types of Achievement

    • "World of Warcraft" includes both guild and individual achievements. There are both guild and individual achievements possible in PvP arenas, PvP battlegrounds, PvE questing, dungeons, and raids. There is even a meta-achievement, "Over 9000," for having more than 9000 achievement points. Rewards for achievements include titles, pets, tabards and mounts.

    Individual Achievement Rewards: Tabards

    • Several difficult achievements give tabard rewards. The "Loremaster" achievement, for example, for Horde, requires completing 550 quests in Eastern Kingdoms, 685 in Kalimdor, 595 in Outland and 875 in Northrend. When you finish the "Loremaster" achievement, you can use the title Loremaster and you receive in the mail the epic tabard "Loremaster's Colors." Other tabard rewards include "Tabard of Brute Force" for winning 300 ranked arena matches, "Tabard of the Achiever" for earning 25 tabards and "Tabard of the Explorer" for exploring Northrend.

    Individual Achievement Rewards: Titles

    • Many achievements, including realm firsts, raid instances, dungeons, quests and reputations, award titles. Completing 50 random dungeons awards you the title "the Patient"; completing 100 gives you the non-combat pet "Perky the Pug." Complete Northrend heroic dungeons and raids for "Champion of the Frozen Wastes" or the "Accomplished Angler" for "Salty." Raising several classic "World of Warcraft" factions to "Exalted" gives the "Insane in the Membrane" "Feat of Strength" and the title "the Insane."

Individual Achievement Rewards: Pets and Mounts

    • Several achievements give vanity pets and mounts. Many of the "World Events" such as "Brewfest" and "Hallow's End" offer opportunities for pet and mount collecting. Complete the required "World Events" achievements for the meta-achievement "What a Long Strange Trip It's Been" and the "Violet Proto-Drake" mount. Collect 50 mounts for the "Leading the Calvary" achievement and "Albino Drake" mount reward and 100 mounts for the "Mountain o' Mounts" achievement and a dragonhawk mount.

    Guild Achievements

    • Obtain guild achievements by doing dungeons, raids and rated battleground in a guild group. Several of the guild "perks" are given for guild levels, but guild achievements in crafting, PvP, PvE and raids offer additional pets, mounts, standards and perks.
