How to Make an RSPS Without Hamachi

"RuneScape" was developed by Jagex Game Studio. The game is free to play, allowing people everywhere to band together against evil online. If you should decide that you would rather play with a small groups of friends, you can create your own RuneScape Privater Server (or RSPS). You could use Hamachi, a virtual private network application, to achieve your goal, but this would prevent anyone without that program from joining. Fortunately, gamers can create an RSPS without Hamachi by usng the latest version of the Java Development Kit, a custom No-IP.com host, RuneScape source files and a custom port forwarding exception.

Instructions

  1. Obtaining Necessary Software

    • 1

Download the latest update of the "Java Development Kit" (JDK). Visit the "Oracle" website and move your cursor over the "Download" menu item. Select "Java for Developers."

    • 2

Click the large "Java" button above the "Java Platform (JDK)" text. Select the version that corresponds with your computer's operating system (Windows, Mac, or Linux) to initiate the download.

    • 3

Launch JDK and follow the prompts to complete the installation process. During the installation, you will be prompted to install the "Java Runtime Environment" (JRE) and should allow the program to do so.

    • 4

Register an account with No-IP.com. Click "Create Account" on the home page and fill out the form, creating a unique user name and password in the process.

    • 5

Log in to No-IP.com by entering your user name and password on the home page. Click "Host/Redirects" and choose "Add Host." Enter your desired server name in the "Hostname" field and click "Create Host."

    • 6

Select "Download Client." Specify your computer's operating system and click the download link.

    • 7

Install the application and log in using your No-IP.com user name and password. Click the box next to the server you created and a check mark will appear. Other gamers may now access and log in to the RSPS you are creating.

    For Windows XP Users Only

    • 8

Access your "System Tasks" from "My Computer." Select the "Advanced" tab and then choose "Environmental Variables."

    • 9

Click "New..." and enter "CLASSPATH" under the "Variable Name" field. Fill out the "Variable Value" field with the following code: "CLASSPATH=C:\Program Files\Java\jdkx.x.x_yy\bin;%CLASSPATH%" (note that "x" denotes the version number of the downloaded JDK and "y" denotes the update number).

    • 10

Click "New..." again and enter "Path" under the "Variable Name." Now enter "C:\Program Files\Java\jdkx.x.x_yy\bin;" under "Variable Value."

    Launching Your RSPS

    • 11

Create a port forwarding exception for port 43594 if your computer does not connect to the Internet via a wireless connection. The steps required for port forwarding vary by modem. Visit the "Portforward.com" website and select your modem model to learn how you can forward port 4359.

    • 12

Download a source. This will act as a basic foundation for your RSPS. There are many sources available to experiment with ("EvolutionX" and "CheezScape" are examples).

    • 13

Unzip your downloaded source. Obtain "WinRAR" from the "Downloads" section of the program's official website. Install the application, right click on the "Source" file and select "Extract to . . ." to unzip to a folder of the same name.

    • 14

Open the "Source" folder. Double click the "Run.bat" file to launch your RSPS and create a character. Now open the file "Characters" and replace the zero with a three under the "Character-rights" property to claim ownership of the private Runescape server.
