FPS Creator
In gaming terms, FPS stands for "first-person shooter." First-person shooters are games where the player views the environment directly through the character's eyes, using a variety of weapons to eliminate enemies. Traditionally, objects such as weapons, ammunition and health-boosting items are found throughout the area. The FPS Creator is a $49.99 program specifically designed to create first-person shooter games with relative ease. It contains all the necessary components to build a game without the need for complex programming or coding.
Versatility
The FPS Creator program gives the designer significant customization options. Normally, creating an FPS game from scratch requires you to create detailed environments from scratch. FPS Creator circumvents this because it contains pre-designed walls, doors and other objects that are borrowed from other FPS genres, such as World War Two or science fiction. It also provides interactive objects, such as locked doors and elevators. Many objects are also destructible when damaged by firearms or explosives.
Artificial Intelligence
Another complex with first-person shooters is the creation of artificial intelligence, or A.I. Normally, a designer must create these herself using a computer coding form called C++. While the FPS Creator still provides that option for advanced programmers, it also comes pre-loaded with A.I. scripts. Scripts are basically predetermined enemy behaviors that dictate the strategies they will use to challenge you during game play. There is no limit to the amount of enemies you can add, but the number is entirely dependent on your computer's processing ability. If you place too many A.I. players in the level, the game may run slowly.
Multi-Player
A compelling feature of first-person shooters is multi-player. This allows eight people to play against each other over a local area network or the Internet. A local area network, or LAN, is a group of computers connected to each other through a wired or wireless home network. A broadband or cable Internet connection is required for online games.
