How to Manually Install Fallout 3

Manually installing Fallout 3 allows you to play the game without purchasing and downloading it on Steam, the digital video game distribution platform from Valve Corporation. Fallout 3 is available in two versions: a traditional boxed version that you can buy at your local retailer and a digital version that you can buy online from the Steam platform. While Steam automatically installs the game for you, you do need to manually run the game's installer for a boxed version of the game. You can do so by using the program that you can find on the game's DVD.

Instructions

    • 1

Press the "Open tray" button on your computer's DVD drive and insert the Fallout 3 DVD into it. The Fallout 3 has an autoplay feature that will automatically launch the game's installer.

    • 2

Click on "Install." Then click on "Next."

    • 3

Type your Fallout 3 license key in the field. You can find your license key on a sticker inside your game's packaging. Then click on "Next."

    • 4

Select "Express install" and click on "Next." The installer will now decompress and install the game's files, which should take less than five minutes to complete. When it has finished installing the game onto your hard drive, click on "Finish."
