What is Enchanting?
In "Oblivion," enchanting is an ability that is used to imbue items with special abilities. These abilities usually include a form of elemental damage, such as frost or fire damage. Enchanting is useful when dealing with enemies that have a weakness to some form of elemental damage. Enchanting is completed in one of two ways. Players must use a sigil stone from the land of Oblivion or use a filled soul gem at one of the following locations: Altar of Enchantment at the Arcane University, Frostcrag Spire or the Acrh-Mage's quarters in the Arcane University.
Item Duplication for Enchanting
"Oblivion" players will face enemies that are weak to specific forms of elemental damage. Enchanting any available weapons with the needed elemental damage to affect that opponent will make the fight easier. The item duplication cheat will allow the creation of multiple weapons to enchant. To complete this cheat, acquire a bow, arrows and the items desired to duplicate. Equip the bow and arrows to the character. Pull back on the arrow but do not fire it. Press the "Tab" key and double-click on the equipped arrows. Shift-click the item that is to be duplicated. When the menu is closed, the duplicated item will appear on the ground for you to pick up. Continue the process until the desired number of items are obtained.
Create the Health Drain Sword
The health-draining sword is a weapon that works well for players when they first begin "Oblivion." Not only does it damage the opponent when used, it casts a health-draining spell on the opponent. Go to the Arcane University with the selected sword and a soul gem, as well as a large amount of money. Use the Alter of Enchanting and select the health-drain effect to add to the weapon. The player will have to use as much money as you have to create the sword. This is a secret item that isn't available through any other method in the game.
Additional Enchanting Tips
Players can create items through enchanting that will damage the opponent when they equip it. This trick can be used against rival players and non-playable characters. For example, using a silence enchantment will neutralize the magic abilities of spell casters. Review the effects of the available enhancements to see which will cause a negative affect when given to an opponent.
