How to Find Black Soul Gems in Elder Scrolls IV

Soul gems in "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion" trap the souls of enemies that you kill. You can then use the energy that this stored to enchant or recharge items. Black soul gems are a special variety of the gem that can trap human souls. You normally create rather than find black soul gems using magic. But you do occasionally find them as well. Necromancers in the game have a random chance of dropping a black soul gem. You will also find a few of these gems during a quest related to the Mage's Guild.

Instructions

- 1
  Travel to the Mage's Guild in Cheydinhal.

  Speak to Falcar inside the building about joining the guild. Immediately afterward, speak to him about getting a recommendation. He will instruct you to retrieve a ring from a nearby well.

  Remove items from your inventory, until you have at least 150 lb. of free space.

  Speak to Deetsan, who is in the same building, when Falcar is not present. She will give you a key to the well.

  Descend into the well outside the guild building.

  Find and search the corpse in the water. Take the Ring of Burden from it.
- 7
  Leave the well and talk to Deetsan inside the guild building. She well tell you to search Falcar's quarters.

  Search the dresser next to Falcar's bed. You will find two black soul gems.
