How to Get All Followers in Oblivion

While you can earn up to 16 named followers in "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion," only eight followers may join your party at a given time. Also, many followers will join you only temporarily, and others do not fight or heal you during combat. The game features two followers, Castellan Athon and Mazoga the Orc, who are available for most of the game as combat allies, and two other followers, Jauffre and Martin Septim, who join you on several main quest-related missions throughout the game.

  Find Nilphas at Battlehorn Castle and purchase the Battlehorn Barracks to gain the retired soldier Castellan Athon as a follower. Athon is a skilled warrior who also carries amazing equipment. If he dies in the course of your travels, take his Russet Felt Shirt of Blade Turning and his leveled sword.

  Find Mazoga the Orc in Leyawiin. When you first encounter her, you may either take her as a follower or complete her quest. If you intend to keep her as a follower for most of the game, you will have to wait to complete her quest until you are finished with her. Once her quest is complete, you will no longer be able to interact with her. Mazoga is a skilled warrior, but her equipment is not of outstanding quality. Pay attention to her health in combat -- when she dies, she will not respawn.

  Find Martin Septim in Kvatch near the beginning of the game. Martin is the bastard son of the late Emperor Uriel Septim VII. Since few know of his parentage at this time, most people refer to him simply as Brother Martin early in the game. Martin will follow you virtually anywhere, though the game only intends you to escort him to his destinations at Weynon Priory and Cloud Ruler Temple.

  Take the quest to escort Martin to Cloud Ruler Temple to gain Jauffre as a follower. Jauffre is a powerful magic user and, like Martin, he will follow you anywhere, though his main goal is to get the Emperor's son to the temple. Taking the escort quest will also land you a free mount for yourself and your two companions.
