How to Get Speech in Half-Life 2

"Half-Life 2" is an award-winning game developed by Valve Software. Valve released the game in 2004 over its "Steam" digital-distribution network. Players step into the shoes of Gordon Freeman in the single-player campaign. However, players may also compete against each other in online death matches. In these, players can communicate through typed messages or, if they have a microphone, through the voice-communication feature. If you wish to communicate through speech, you must first enable in the game.

  Launch "Half-Life 2." You can do so by double-clicking the icon on your desktop, or opening your "Steam" library and double-clicking on "Half-Life 2" from your games list.

  Click "Options." This opens the "Options" window.

  Click the "Voice" tab along the top of the "Options" window.

  Click the box beside "Enable voice in this game" so that it has a check inside of it.

  Click and drag the sliders for the "Send" and "Receive" volumes to your preference. Click "Test Microphone" and speak into your microphone to test the setting.

  Click "Apply."
