How Can I Get a Mate in the Sims 3?

The virtual world of "The Sims 3" allows players to create virtual people and control their everyday lives. These simulated people, called Sims, can have personal relationships with one another that range from just friends to soul mates. A Sim's gender, race, economic situation or relationship status will not make a difference when it comes to finding love. The game does limit romantic interactions between teenager Sims and adult Sims, and teenagers can still find romance with another teenage Sim.

Instructions

  Visit any Community Lot with your Sim by selecting it from the neighborhood menu. Community lots are a good place to meet new Sims if you do not already have a particular Sim in mind for a mate.

  Click on a Sim you would like to be your Sim's mate and select the "Friendly Introduction" social interaction.

  Click on the Sim again to bring up additional social interactions. Stick to friendly interactions and avoid negative interactions. Continue using social interactions to build your Sim's relationship to the potential mate. Check the relationship menu to see what the other Sim thinks of your Sim so far.

  Click on the potential mate Sim to bring up romantic social interactions. Use a romantic social interaction only once the Sims have become friends; it is easier to avoid rejection if the Sims are already friendly with one another. Select softer romantic interactions at first, such as "Flirt" or "Compliment Appearance."

  Select more meaningful romantic interactions such as "First Kiss" once the other Sim has started responding positively to romantic interactions. Whenever your Sim engages in a social interaction with another Sim, a message will appear on the screen that tells you what the other Sim is thinking. If the Sim find your Sim "flirty," "alluring" or "extremely irresistible," it is a good sign to move the relationship forward.

  Click on the potential mate and successfully complete multiple romantic interactions to unlock further romance options, such as asking the other Sim to enter into a steady relationship, move in together or get married.
