How to Attack a Planet Under Dominator Control

  Earn money. To fight the Dominators effectively, you'll need better equipment. There are a variety of lucrative options available to the aspiring Ranger.

  Perform missions for planetary governments. Land at a friendly planet and press "G" to talk to an ambassador. Missions range from search and destroy to simple courier missions. Early on, courier missions may be your best bet; you simply have to fly to another planet, make a delivery and collect your reward.

  Trade goods to earn money. Planetary governments and the information center (hotkey "I") are great places to find good trade routes. Buy low, sell high and before long, you'll be rolling in cash.

  Think about a career as a pirate. Hail a ship and demand cash or their cargo. If they don't comply, give them a few shots with your weapons to change their mind.

Prepare to Fight the Dominators

  Upgrade your ship and equipment with all your new cash. Better weapons and shielding are a must. Find equipment with maximum damage that occupies minimum space. A good damage control system will also make your life much easier.

  Find allies. If you have some leadership skill, you can hail friendly ships and, for a bit of cash, they'll join your group. Allied ships will follow you and attack hostile ships.

  Choose your target. Visit the galaxy map (hotkey "M") and note the systems which are displayed in gray text. They are currently controlled by Dominators. If you see two flashing crossed swords above a system, a battle is going on. Pay attention to the information center at planets, because they will often give the time and location of planned assaults. It is best to time your attack to coincide with one of these strikes.

  Jump to the system you have selected for liberation.

  Destroy the Dominators. To liberate the system, you must destroy every Dominator ship. Pay attention to your damage; if you find yourself in danger, try to flee. Dominators will often find another target, giving your ship time to repair itself.

  Collect your reward. Once all the Dominators are destroyed, you will receive a message that all ships participating in the liberation are invited to a planet for a celebration. You are often rewarded with some nice, new equipment.
