Stede Bonnet Games

Stede Bonnet may not be the most fearsome pirate of all time, but his story is perhaps the strangest. Bonnet was a well-off landowner in Barbados until the day in 1717 when he decided to try something new -- piracy. It wasn't long, though, until his crew lost faith in him, Blackbeard took his ship and he was executed for his crimes. The 2004 multi-platform game "Sid Meier's Pirates!" was the only game to ever feature Stede Bonnet; this title is a remake of the 1987 game of the same name.
  1. The Game

    • Your family was imprisoned by a Spanish nobleman when you were a young boy. Now that you are grown up, you become a pirate to seek revenge. While that is your ultimate goal, there's no harm in enjoying a pirate's life along the way. Dig up buried treasure, participate in swashbuckling sword fights and even steal a dance with the guvnor's daughter. Make as much money as possible before you get old and retire from piracy.

    The Competition

    • You aren't the only pirate sailing the seas of the Caribbean; there are other wealthier, more fearsome and more famous buccaneers out there. All of these competitors are based on real privateers and pirates too. Henry Morgan is the most notorious in the game, followed by Blackbeard, Captain Kidd and Jean Lafitte. The next in line is Stede Bonnet himself and he is followed by L'Olonnais, Roc Brasiliano, Bart Roberts and Jack Rackham.

    Bonnet's Treasure

    • Stede Bonnet, like any good pirate, has part of his fortune buried in a secret location, but don't expect a giant X marking the spot. Go into taverns and talk to mysterious strangers until one of them offers you a quarter of a treasure map, for a price of course. Set off on your treasure hunt now, if you think this is enough to go on, or collect more pieces to make matters easier. Bonnet's treasure is worth 5,000 gold. Finding this treasure not only fills your pockets but it boosts your fame level as well.

    Defeating Bonnet

    • The most profitable course of action is to track down and defeat Bonnet, but he won't be a pushover. His ship, the Brigantine, contains the maximum amount of guns allowed, almost the maximum amount of crew and many upgrades. The good news is that all this is yours if you can defeat Bonnet. To find him, talk to barmaids until one tells you the whereabouts of his home base. Sail out to this location, engage his ship in a naval fight and then defeat him in a swordfight. You could simply sink the ship but you would lose out on the gold inside, which increases as the game moves on. He isn't dead, but Stede Bonnet will never return to piracy, and you receive a fame point for making this happen.
