How to Find Nif Files in Fallout 3

Developer Bethesda Softworks released "Fallout 3" for the PC in 2008. A .nif file is how the game stores its 3D models for the various objects in the game, ranging from your character model to various items found throughout the game. If you wish to mod "Fallout 3" and tweak the existing graphics files in the game, you must have access to the .nif files. These files can be found on your hard drive in the "Fallout 3" folder.

  Click the "Start" button located on the Windows taskbar at the bottom of the screen.

  Click "Computer."

  Double-click the hard drive that "Fallout 3" is installed on. For many users, this is the "C:\" drive.

  Double-click the "Program Files (x86)" folder.

  Double-click the "Bethesda Softworks" folder, followed by the "Fallout 3" folder.

  Double-click the "Data" folder, followed by the "Meshes" folder. In each of these folders, there are the various .nif files for "Fallout 3."
