How to Reset World of Warcraft

When experiencing technical problems related to your "World of Warcraft" user interface (UI) or installed add-on programs, it may become necessary to reset your user interface. Resetting your UI will disable all add-ons and reset almost all of your saved game settings. When done correctly, it is possible to save backup folders containing all your previous saved settings in case you want to restore those at a later time.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the "Start" menu button, then type "World of Warcraft" into the "Search" dialog box.

    • 2

Double-click the "World of Warcraft" directory folder that appears in the search window.

    • 3

Click the "File" sorting tab at the top of the "Windows Explorer" window to organize the displayed "World of Warcraft" folders and files in alphabetical order.

    • 4

Right-click on the "WTF" folder, then click "Rename" in the drop-down menu.

    • 5

Rename the "WTF" folder to a name of your choosing. Pick a name that you will remember in case you need to restore the file at a later time.

    • 6

Locate and rename the "Interface" folder in the same manner as the "WTF" folder.

    • 7

Close the "Windows Explorer" window, then launch "World of Warcraft." The "WTF" and "Interface" folders will be automatically remade once the game launches. This will have the result of completely resetting your "World of Warcraft" UI.
