How to Put in Add-Ons for The Sims 2

EA Games has made many expansion and stuff packs for its virtual reality game "The Sims 2." That extra content is not enough for a lot of players, so some people create custom content and make it available on the Internet for others to download. Some downloadable objects are re-colors of objects that already exist in the game. Others are made using entirely new meshes. Installing custom content in the correct folder so it works in the game can be tricky. Also, before you download anything, read about it to make sure it is compatible with your game.

     Click on the computer's "Start" menu and open My Documents.

     Open the EA Games folder. Then open "The Sims 2" folder.

     Create a new folder in "The Sims 2" folder and title it "Downloads" if you don't already have a downloads folder.

     Unzip the custom content you have downloaded and save it to the new Downloads folder. The custom content will appear in the game. The Downloads folder should be located at My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/Downloads.
