How to Put Sprays Into Steam Games

"Sprays" are image files that you can apply to an electronic game environment to show other players. Many games on the Steam game service, such as "Counter-Strike," "Team Fortress 2" and "Left 4 Dead," include integrated support for sprays. You first must prepare an image for it to be acceptable as a spray, however. A spray image must be square and have a particular resolution, such as 128 by 128 pixels or 256 by 256 pixels, and must be in .jpg, .bmp, .tga or .vtf format. Many gaming sites, such as GameBanana and Game Sprays, have prepared sprays that you can download and use.

Click the "Import Spray" button. A file browser window will open. Click the "Up" button in the upper-right corner of the file browser window to go up one directory level, then double-click a directory to enter that directory. Navigate the file browser window to the directory containing your prepared spray image file, then double-click the spray file. The file browser window will close, and the spray will appear as your current spray image.

Click the "OK" or "Apply" buttons to close the multiplayer options window and confirm the spray change. The imported spray will now appear whenever you press the spray key ("T" by default) during gameplay.
