Level in the Proper Zone
The world of "MapleStory" is divided into various zones, each with their own unique characteristics and monsters. Although a player has access to each zone from the start of the game, it is not recommended that they travel too far from their point of origin due to the level of the monsters they will encounter. Lower level characters cannot harm powerful monsters and will be defeated within a few hits. For example, a bowman begins in the town of Henesys and should not travel to Sleepywood before reaching level 20. Defeating monsters that are a higher level than your character will provide your character with high amounts of experience points. Become familiar with the relative level of the monsters that appear in each zone and compare it to the level of your character. Engage monsters that are no more than two levels higher than your character.
Complete Quests
In "MapleStory," a player can access various quests through the non-player characters that appear in the game's towns and zones. The quests a player has access to depend on their character's class and no two quests are alike. Upon accepting a quest, a player will be given a set of objectives. Upon completing the objective a player will be rewarded with experience points, and occasionally a unique item. By completing a multitude of quests a player will be able to level at a faster pace than a player that is not completing quests.
Equip the Proper Gear
The gear your character is equipped with will have a direct impact on how your avatar performs against the various monsters you may encounter. In "MapleStory," there are hundreds of equipment combinations that will each strengthen your characters abilities and provide different advantages in battle. The equipment your character has access to is dependent upon your character's class. For example, a warrior will have access to a steel shield while a magician will have access to a mystic shield. At the start of the game much of the equipment is locked to the player. As your character levels up, they will gain access to more equipment options. Regularly upgrade your equipment as your character levels up. By keeping your character clothed with the most current equipment options their attributes will be strengthen and they will be able to gain experience points from defeating stronger monsters.
Team Up With Other Players
Training in a group is one of the most popular methods of leveling in "MapleStory." Players have the option to join other players in defeating various monsters. The experienced gained from defeating monsters is then divided amongst the members of the group. Although the per-monster experience points are lower, players are able to defeat large amounts of monsters in a relatively shorter amount of time. Any items found during training can be sold to other group members or to players outside of the group making it not only a great training item but a great way to generate revenue for your character as well.
