How to Install LOTRO on Vista

Lord of the Rings Online (LOTRO) is a fantasy role playing game set in the same universe as the books and films of the same name. The game lets the player create a character of his own. Developed before Microsoft released the Windows Vista operating system, you can, however, still install and play LOTRO on a Vista system. To do this, you will need to download and then install the game files.

  Open up a browser on your computer and go to the LOTRO download page. Here you will be able to download the installation file and install the game on your system. Click on the "Download Now" button to begin the process. Click on "Save File" on the pop-up window and the file will start to download.

  Open up the "Downloads" folder when the download completes and right-click on the file you have just downloaded. In the menu that appears, click on the "Run as Administrator" option. Read the terms and service agreement that appears and click on the "I Agree" button at the bottom of the page.

  Choose a location to save the game files to on the next screen. Once you have chosen a location, click on the "Next" button and the game files will begin to be downloaded. You will see a status bar and time remaining and can click "Pause" to pause the download if you need to. When it is finished, click "Next" to begin installation.

  Click on "Express" on the next window and then click "Next." Read the agreement in the next window and click on "I Accept the Agreement" and then click "Next" again. Click "Next" once more and the installation will start. You will see a progress bar at the bottom of the screen. When it reaches 100 percent click "Finish."

  Click on the "Start" button at the bottom of the screen and click on "Games." You will see LOTRO as one of the options in this panel. Double-click the icon to start the game.
