How to Set the Camera Distance in World of Warcraft

In "World of Warcraft" players have a third-person perspective where the camera is situated behind their character, allowing them to see their character's immediate surroundings. All players have the ability to adjust the distance between the camera and their character in order to fit personal preference or specific situations. While playing by themselves, players may prefer having the camera closer to the character and when in group dungeons or raid, it is more useful to have the camera much farther back. Knowing how to adjust this quickly can make transitions quick and effective.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to your "World of Warcraft" account and select a character from the character selection screen. Press the "Enter World" button to start playing.

    • 2

Wait for your character to load into the world. Press the "Escape" button when you have full control of your character. A window will appear, showing a number of various options. Click on the "Interface" button to open a new window.

    • 3

On the left side of the "Interface" window, find the "Camera" tab near the bottom and click on it to show several camera options.

    • 4

Locate the scroll bar labeled "Max Camera Distance" and set the scroll cursor to how far back you want the camera to be able to go. Putting the cursor as far to the right as possible will allow you to move the camera the greatest distance away from your character.

    • 5

Press the "Okay" button at the bottom of the "Interface" window. Press the "Return to Game" button on the "Options" window.

    • 6

Use the mouse wheel or the "Home" and "End" keys on your keyboard to move the camera farther away from or closer to your character.
