Instructions
Start a "Minecraft" game and familiarize yourself with your surroundings. New players start game sessions in random locations so take stock of the resources in your immediate location.
Find a source of wood (likely some trees). If you find yourself in open plains or a mountain, try to make your way to higher ground to see if you can spot a nearby forest.
Walk up to the wood source and hold down the mouse button. You will automatically begin harvesting the wood block in front of you with your hands. In a couple of seconds, a block of wood will be added to your inventory.
Continue harvesting wood from the area. To build advanced raised textures, you'll need resources, such as stone. Since you can't harvest stone with your bare hands, you'll need a pickaxe.
Bring up your inventory screen by pressing "I" or clicking on your block inventory readout on the bottom of the screen. From here, click on the "Crafting" tool and arrange two wood blocks next to each other. This will make a wooden plank. Repeat the process twice more to create three wooden planks. Now, line up two wooden blocks on top of each other to create a wooden stick. Do this again so you have two wooden sticks.
Arrange the three wooden planks across the top of the crafting tool and place the two sticks directly below the middle wooden plank so they form a "T" shape. This will create a wooden pickaxe.
Use the wooden pickaxe to mine tougher resources, such as stone. Stone will provide a much stronger base for your raised textures than other materials.
Place the stone blocks you collect on the ground around you. Then, press "Space" to jump on top of them and continue placing more blocks. You now have a raised texture. Continue this process to build higher and higher and construct whatever formation your heart desires.
