How to Solve the Alter of Tides Quest in World of Warcraft

The Curse of the Tides is one of the quests available in the pre-Cataclysm version of "World of Warcraft." This quest tasks players with locating the Alter of the Tides and destroying it and its guardian, Gazban. Although you cannot complete this quest on the retail WoW servers, it is still possible to complete it if you play on a private legacy server that has not implemented the "Cataclysm" expansion pack.

Instructions

- 1
  Visit Catelyn the Blade on the second floor staircase of the Booty Bay Inn in Booty Bay once you are level 40 or higher. She will give you a quest to retrieve her blade from "Pretty Boy" Duncan.

  Locate and kill "Pretty Boy" Duncan on the southernmost island of Stranglethorn Vale. Loot Catelyn's Blade from his corpse and return to Catelyn the Blade.

  Accept the quest The Curse of the Tides.

  Travel to the Alter of Tides, which is located at the Northwestern edge of Stranglethorne Vale. The alter is underwater and will have a blue glow around it.

  Right-click Catelyn's Blade while you are in close proximity to the alter.

  Kill Gazban when he appears.

  Return to Catelyn the Blade to complete the quest.
