Instructions
Crafting necessary items
Right-click on your work bench to begin crafting the items needed to make your track. This opens a 3x3 crafting window.
Place a stone block on top of another stone block in your crafting window and drag the resulting button to your inventory. Repeat this process with two more blocks. This gives you two buttons.
Place iron at the three columns on the left and three columns on the right of your crafting window. Place a stick in the center square. This makes six rails. For every 42 meters of automated track, only 41 can be normal rail.
Repeat Step 3, but use gold bars instead of iron. Place one redstone below the stick in your crafting window. This gives you six Powered Rails.
Place a stick in the center or bottom row of your crafting screen and place a redstone above it. This gives you one redstone torch.
Placing your track.
Place a stone where you want your automated track to start.
Place three powered rails in front of the stone.
Stack two stones to the left of the first powered rail.
Place a button on the higher of the two stones. To make sure your track is working, push the button. Your powered rail should light up for a few seconds.
Place 41 rails along your flat surface in front of the third powered rail. The rails can be in a straight line, curved or both as long as the surface is flat.
Repeat Step 4 in the first section to build a powered rail in front of the 41st normal rail.
Place a redstone torch next to your rail to power it. The rail should light up.
Repeat Steps 5 through 7 for every 42 meters your track continues.
Build three powered rails to end your track.
Place a stone behind the third powered rail.
Put down two stones to the right of the first, one on top of the other.
Put a button on the higher of the two stones. Like the beginning of your track, the powered rails should temporarily light up when you push the button.
Test the track by putting down a minecart on the powered rail next to your stone.
Right-click on the minecart to get in.
Push the button. Your cart should automatically take off and be at full speed after the third powered rail. As long as there is one powered rail every 42 blocks while you are riding inside and the elevation never increases, you should stay at top speed. You should stop at the other end of the track in front of the stone.
Test this side by pushing the button again. You should ride at full speed back to the other end of the track.
