How to Sign Up in IMVU

IMVU is a chat game available for both Windows and Macintosh computers that allows players to meet and chat in a virtual online world. Unlike traditional online chat rooms, IMVU is designed to be immersive; players create customized, 3-D avatar representations of themselves and use these avatars to communicate with each other. The game is free to register an account and chat with other players, but more extensive avatar customization options are only available to players who pay to unlock them.

Instructions

  Navigate to the IMVU sign up page (see Resources).

  Choose your in-game avatar. Select the button marked "Male" or "Female" to specify your avatar's gender and use the left and right arrow icons to scroll through the pictures of the available in-game avatars. Click on an avatar to select it.

  Enter a name for your avatar in the text box marked "Choose your avatar name." Your avatar's name will serve as your identity within IMVU.

  Input a password into the text box marked "Create password" and enter the password again in the box marked "Confirm password."

  Enter your personal information, including your first name, last name, email address, country and date of birth in the labeled text boxes.

  Input the words you see in the box marked "Security Check" into the text box marked "Enter the two words above." Click on the text marked "Get new words" if you cannot read the words.

  Click on the yellow "Create IMVU Account" button at the bottom of the page to create your account.
