How to Create a Custom TV Station on The Sims 2

Much like their real-life counterparts, the virtual people (Sims) who inhabit the world of "The Sims 2" enjoy watching television in their homes. Sims have a number of different programs they can watch on their televisions, from children's cartoons to workout shows, but if you wish, you can replace the shows they watch with your own home movies and videos. Create your own custom television stations for "The Sims 2" by replacing the pre-existing station content with your own, through game modification.

Instructions

    • 1

Load a video that you would like to put on your Sim's television into the video editing software of your choice.

    • 2

Reduce the size of the video to 128 by 128 pixels and lower the frame rate to 15 frames per second or fewer. (Refer to the user manual of your video editing software for further instructions on how to use the editing tools to reduce the size of the video.)

    • 3

Save and render the movie file as an AVI file. It does not matter which codec you save your AVI file with, so long as it has the correct size and frame per second setting. Copy the movie and go to C:\My Documents\EAGames\TheSims2\Music\, or the location where you installed your game.

    • 4

Paste the movie file into the television station folder of your choice. Repeat this process to fill up a single television station with only your custom television videos. The television station folders are all named after the corresponding television stations, such as "Yummy Channel" and "KidzTube."

    • 5

Open a saved game of "The Sims 2" and click on your Sim's television. Select the television station that corresponds to the folder where you placed your custom videos to let your Sims watch your custom channel.
