How to Become a Grand Master at Chess in The Sims 3

"The Sims 3" allows you to first create custom characters called Sims, build and furnish a home for the Sims to live in and then choose how their Sims carry out their day-to-day lives. Intelligent Sims enjoy playing chess. When they play chess, they not only boost their Entertainment rating, they also increase their Logic skills. Owning a chessboard also allows Sims to challenge opponents to a game of chess, eventually working their way up through a ranked challenge system to win the title of Grand Master.

Instructions

    • 1

Enter the Build and Buy menu to purchase a chess table if your Sim does not already have one. Multiple chess sets are available, so purchase one that matches both your budget and sensibilities. Place the chess table in an easily accessible area of your Sim's lot and place two chairs on either side so the players may sit.

    • 2

Increase your Sim's Logic skill level until it is a rating of five or higher. The Logic skill can be increased by studying Logic books, using a chess table or telescope and practicing chess on a high-end computer.

    • 3

Click on your Sim to bring up his cell phone menu. From the "Call" menu, select the option to invite over the next ranked chess opponent. If this option is not available, it is because you do not have a chess table or your Sim does not have a high enough logic level.

    • 4

Click on the opponent when he arrives at your door to invite him in. Click the chess table to bring up the option to challenge the opponent to a game of chess. The game will automatically commence and after a period of time, a winner will be declared.

Repeat these steps until you have beaten five ranked chess opponents to become a Grand Master.
