Fallout 1: How to Get the Water Chip

Travel to Necropolis. Depending on when you arrive, the town will be filled with ghouls or abandoned. If the town is populated with ghouls, do not attack them, as they will attack you. If you do not have Necropolis marked on your map, go to the Hub and talk to the water merchants in the south part of town. Ask them about buying a water chip, and they will tell you about Necropolis.

Run straight toward the motel. Head west once you get to the motel, and turn north at the street blocked off halfway with debris. Run toward the debris and enter the manhole in the middle of the street to enter the sewer.

Head north through the sewer, stopping when you see a group of ghouls. Talk to the leader of the ghouls about Set and the water shed. Asking about Set and the water shed unlocks quests that you can complete after you find the water chip.

Run north after talking with the leader of the ghouls. Climb up the first ladder you see to enter a building on street level.

Head west out of the building and then turn north. Keep traveling past the manhole with the mutant to the west of it until you see a water shed directly ahead of you with a group of super mutants in front of it.

Save your game before you approach the super mutants. You may have to fight them to gain access to the water shed.

Head into the water shed and talk to Henry. If you have a good charisma stat and at least 50 percent speech skill you can convince Henry that you are a ghoul. If you cannot convince Henry that you are a ghoul, he and the other super mutants in the water shed will turn hostile and attack you.

Kill the super mutants in the water shed if you need to. Make a right and run through the water shed, taking a right when you enter the room with all of the barrels and machines. Run through the room and open the door farthest to your right (closest to the wall).

Enter the room and climb down the open manhole. Climb down the ladder in the next room to enter the sewers.

Run left up the sewer, killing the two hostile ghouls. Continue running straight through the hole in the wall. Make a left at the fork in the path and enter the elevator.

Take the elevator to the third floor. Run straight from the elevator and make a left at the wall. Kill the three ghouls in the next room. Run straight and enter the room with the four computers. Use the computer on the north wall, left side, to find the water chip.
