Create a Sim to start the game. Visit a community lot -- a store, park or restaurant -- to meet new Sims.
Choose a Sim to start a relationship. Click on the Sim to bring up different conversation options, including "Chat," "Tell a Joke" or "Play a Game."
Chat several times before moving onto romantic options. Choose options such as "Flirt" or "Hug" to form a romantic relationship with the Sim.
Ask the Sim to go on a date once the option appears. Choose a to go out or stay home.
Select the "Invite Out" or "Invite Over" option in "The Sims 3." Select the "Ask on Date" option if the relationship has improved to a romantic relationship level.
Watch the date meter that appears in "The Sims 2." Select the date's wants directly below the meter. Fulfill as many of the wants and desires for both of the Sims to increase the meter level.
Visit a restaurant or go to a movie in "The Sims 3." Visit the park, play football or engage in a conversation and some casual flirting.
Avoid disagreements or dating a Sim that already has a significant other to prevent the date meter from decreasing. Sing and dance together or play a game such as poker to make sure both Sims are having a good time.
End the date once the relationship meter is high enough for a good date or "Dream Date." You can also end the date if a Sim has to address its own needs, like going to the bathroom or sleeping. Kiss the Sim goodnight or hug the other Sim before leaving.
