Hints for Chuzzle Points

Chuzzle is a computer game featuring cute, little fuzzy balls with bright colors. The Chuzzles are set out in a grid of six by six. If three or more touch, they explode in a poof of hair. A jar at the left side of the page stores the eyes of the poor, exploded Chuzzles to keep score (which sounds a lot more morbid than it appears). There are four different kinds of Chuzzles: the regular Chuzzle, the Super Chuzzle, the Giant Chuzzle, and the Rainbow Chuzzle.
  1. Regular Chuzzles

    • Matching three Chuzzles garners the fewest points in the game. However, when the falling cascade matches more and more, the number of points obtained goes up exponentially. It is best to set up a match that will drop Chuzzles into more matches. Sometimes these turn into matching cascades, which can be extremely high-scoring. Always try to match more than just three Chuzzles at a time (there's a trophy for matching three different colors in one move, which is also lucrative). The more Chuzzles that explode at a time, the higher the score.

    Super Chuzzles

    • Super Chuzzles that explode as the center of a 3-by-3 square earn higher points than the normal Chuzzles. They also clear out a large space for Chuzzles to fall into, allowing for more matches to be made. The more space that is cleared off the board, the better the chance for new falling Chuzzles to have a chain explosion.

    Giant Chuzzle

    • The Giant Chuzzle takes up the space of four regular-sized Chuzzles and is both a help and a hindrance. While matching the Giant Chuzzle garners more points and clears out plenty of space for new falling Chuzzles, it cannot be moved past the edges of the board. When one side of a row is popped underneath the Giant Chuzzle, it falls until there are two Chuzzles to hold it, pushing other Chuzzles off the board. This can be useful to move inconvenient Chuzzles; or, just shift the Giant Chuzzle to another position where it would be more useful.

    Rainbow Chuzzles

    • Rainbow Chuzzles are the rarest Chuzzles in the game, and as such they are the most lucrative as far as points go -- only three are generally available, if they are on the board at all. This means that sometimes people can get distracted chasing them instead of working towards maximizing their score. If one gets destroyed during the course of a play -- either by a Super Chuzzle or a Giant Chuzzle -- another will fall back onto the board within the next few moves. Sometimes this can work to one's advantage -- the Rainbow Chuzzle that drops back onto the board may be in a better place to match them.

    General Tips

    • When regular Chuzzles are locked up (blocking the movement of either the vertical or horizontal row each one is in) they give many more points. The more locked Chuzzles there are, the harder it is to move, so there is more than one reason to match them as quickly as possible.

It is also important to avoid pressing the Hint button, as it costs points. In the normal play mode (but not Expert mode) the Chuzzles will appear to get bored, and one that can be matched will jiggle and roll its eyes. This method is not recommended during the timed Chuzzle mode.
