Mining Profession
Players can choose two professions in "WoW." The mining profession involves using a pickaxe to mine throughout the different areas on the world map to obtain several different types of ore, including copper, tin, iron, mithril, thorium, fel iron, adamantite, cobalt, saronite, obsidium and elementium. Leveling a profession takes time and can be done at any time after your character reaches Level 5. A quick way to level is by following a profession-leveling guide, which can be found online. The easiest way to level mining is to mine an item until it becomes green and move onto the next highest type of ore, as well as getting training as soon as it is available.
Auction House
The in-game auction house is a place where players from your server can sell and buy items that are collected while questing and fighting in dungeons. Auction houses are found in every major city. Check the auction house often and search for the specific type of ore you need or search for "ore" and a list will pop up containing the ore for sale. Ore may be listed individually or in stacks, with the lowest selling at the top. You can bid and wait until the auction is over or buy it immediately for a buyout price. The problem with the auction house is that the amount of ore and types being sold will be inconsistent. The prices are also always fluctuating as sellers use the other auctions to set their prices.
Player Deals
If you have friends in the game, you may be able to strike a deal with them. If you have a profession that is beneficial to them, they may be willing to collect ore in return for what you can collect. If you do not have any items they desire, you may be able to get a discount on ore by buying directly with them instead of at the auction house, which takes a portion of the sale. If you are in a guild, they may be more willing to help you. Guilds connect players together and often provide in-game help.
Guild Bank
Guilds also have their own bank, which, depending on the settings, members can open and remove items they need. With bigger guilds, there are more supplies left in the guild bank, including stacks of ore. The general rule is that if you remove an item, you should replace it with an item of equal value, but each guild is different. Ask the guild leader or ranked member before removing items from the guild bank.
Purchasing Online
There are websites that sell in-game items for real money, such as Guild Bank and Guys 4 Game. Ore items usually cost only a few dollars for a stack of 20. The problems with sites like these are the security and availability. Check for verification, such as "VeriSign Secured" or another website for security issues as well as testimonials. The other issue is availability of ore. Because the items can only be purchased from your own server/realm, the amount of supplies is limited and depends on the players within that server.
