How to Activate the Chute on FSX

Microsoft's "Flight Simulator X" is a PC video simulator game that allows you get in the cockpit and realistically fly dozens of airplanes - from a small two-engine plane to a large 747 air cruiser. You can add more planes to the game's collection by downloading third-party created models. These planes can be of a variety of makes and models, but some of the fastest third-party created planes, such as the A-4 Skyhawk, come with a parachute. In real life, these parachutes are used to slow the plane down, but they are purely for aesthetics in "FSX."

Instructions

    • 1

Descend slowly onto a runway with a downloaded plane that comes with a parachute braking system. These are typically very agile planes, and the parachute braking system is almost always listed in the description of the plane.

    • 2

Land on the runway and immediately press the hand brake, which is the "/" key, to slow the plane down.

    • 3

Press wing fold button, which is the X key, to deploy the braking chute. This is just purely for aesthetic purposes, but it can be great for taking screenshots or making videos.
