Scoring
Scoring points in the battle puzzle is not enough; you must also prevent your opponent from scoring. When making a move, look ahead to see what moves it will open up for your opponent. Keep an eye on the symbols along the edge of the playing board to see what symbol is up next, as well as the kinds of matches that benefit your opponent. The symbols underneath your opponent's soldiers will tell you what matches power them up.
Spells
Make use of the spells. As with moving blocks, using spells can be tricky, as many of them work on random blocks. Casting divination turns blocks into white blocks, which power up swordsmen, but if your opponent also uses swordsmen it could power up his, as well. However, some spells offer reliable results: life leech steals defense points from an enemy troop and gives it to one of your wounded troops, while javelin deals one point of damage to an enemy soldier.
Soldier Line-up
Put your strongest soldier at the top of the lineup. This protects your other soldiers. The computer will have a harder time killing your strongest soldier, which gives you plenty of time to destroy the computer's. To switch your soldier lineup, click on your hero on the kingdom's map. This brings up your citadel menu. On the bottom right is the soldier lineup. Click on a soldier to highlight him, then click another soldier to switch their places.
Colors
Pay attention to how colors interact. If you rely heavily on a spell or relic with a specific color, equip a hero that matches that color to give yourself a boost in effectiveness. Also, recruiting soldiers is 25 percent cheaper if you recruit soldiers with at least one matching color. Soldiers with opposing colors cost 50 percent more to recruit. Red opposes blue, green opposes yellow, and purple opposes white.
