What Are Unlockable Jobs on Sims 3: Ambitions?

"The Sims 3: Ambitions" expands on the original capabilities of "The Sims 3" as you explore new careers and goals, or ambitions, for your sim. You can change your career from one of the standard positions like a military recruit or police officer to something unusual such as a ghost hunter. "The Sims 3: Ambitions" unlocks five new career paths and three unique skills.
  1. Architect

    • As an architect, your sim earns money by fixing up homes in the neighborhood. In order to achieve your lifetime career goal, you must have 100 good reviews from homes you've fixed up. Get a job as an architect by looking in the paper every day as you wait for it to come up, or head down to city hall to select the position. As an architect, you need to have plenty of charisma and painting skills assist you in getting the job done. You begin as a fabric fetcher earning $272 a day and can work your way up to the dictator of design, where you bring home $2,840 a day. You also earn bonuses for taking the client's wishes into account.

    Firefighter

    • Save your neighborhood from fires as a firefighter. Your sim should be both handy and athletic. It is a bonus if he is a daredevil or brave so he isn't afraid to enter a burning home to extinguish a fire. Get the job by visiting the firehouse. Focus on tinkering with items around the home and building your athletic skills to progress. You start as a water boy for $276 and can reach the fire chief, where you bring home $2,480. He can also purchase his own fire truck to attend to calls directly as he reaches the higher levels of the career.

    Ghost Hunter

    • If you have an interest in the paranormal, being a ghost hunter is a way to fulfill your interests and earn money too. As a ghost hunter you need to have logic skill, be a bit eccentric and willing to work the night shift. You get paid on a weekly basis and as you complete jobs such as tackling a spirit or poltergeist invasion. You begin as a tarot card reader at $280 and slowly progress up to a paranormal expert, earning $2,480.

    Private Investigator

    • Take a job as a private investigator if you're sly and very perceptive. You may also want your sim to be a genius, which will increase his logic skill faster. You get paid $275 after going to the police station to sign up to be a PI, where you begin as an eavesdropper. You eventually reach private eye where you earn $2,475. Gain additional money by typing up crime reports, solving cases, finding information out about a sim, searching for clues or breaking into a residence if necessary.

    Stylist

    • If your interests lie in the fashion world, consider becoming a professional stylist. A sim should have plenty of charisma to be a stylist and have friends and connections all throughout the neighborhood. As a beginner fashion fledgling, you earn $182. When you reach a fashion phenomena, you earn $2,306. You can choose jobs from the town to style someone's hair or choose an outfit for them. Once you do, you can take a photo for your portfolio to increase your reputation. You must be very social to make a living off a stylist's skills.

    Education Track

    • The education track is similar to the older jobs where you don't really need to do anything for your sim while he's at work. It's new for the ambitions expansion pack though and to flourish you need to have plenty of charisma. You begin as a playground monitor for $120 per day and at the top of the track you become a superintendent, earning $1,623 per day.

    Inventor

    • In order to become an inventor, you need to take a class at the science center to learn how to invent, which is also known as "dabble." Go to city hall and register yourself as self-employed to be an inventor. The only earnings from this career track are through selling your inventions. You start as an electrocution victim and progress to the fourth dimensional architect. To gain a promotion from one level to another, you need to have a minimum profit earned. The top level of the inventor career requires you to have $88,905 in sales.

    Sculptor

    • Another activity for the artistic minded individual is a sculptor. You cannot learn sculpting from books but need to do hands-on activities to improve. You start as a questionable potter and progress to a master sculptologist after you earn $45,000 in profits. You can craft clay or ice objects and eventually may get something useful, such as a piece of furniture instead of something decorative. At level six you can begin scultping other sims for unique pieces.
