How to Improve Your Game in Defense of the Ancients

Becoming the best "Defense of the Ancients" ("DotA") player you can will get you respect and prestige in your "Warcraft 3" clan. "DotA" is one of the most competitive maps on "Warcraft 3" and has a high learning curve. Knowing what to do from the beginning will ease your progress without frustration.

Instructions

  1. Working as a Team

    • 1

Strategize with your teammates to decide which heroes you are going to use. Choose heroes that work well with each other; for example, one person could choose a strong melee hero while someone else chooses a healer.

    • 2

Work with your teammates instead of fighting on your own. You'll be safer from creeps and it will be easier to kill enemy heroes.

    • 3

Share the items you find if you receive an item that would benefit a teammate more.

    Creeping Early

    • 4

Kill as many enemy creeps as possible at the beginning of the game to earn gold --- this makes buying items easier.

    • 5

Fight neutral creeps --- creeps that aren't sent from the enemy --- before the other team does. They award gold and items as well as experience points.

    • 6

Sell items you don't need to the shops located in your base for extra gold.

    Mastering One Hero

    • 7

Choose one hero that you enjoy playing and practice using him as much as possible.

    • 8

Do research about your hero and find strategy guides from other players to find out the best skill and item combinations.

    • 9

Fight creeps that your hero is strong against. For example, as a Paladin, fight undead creeps using your holy spells.
