How to Get Sims to Break an Engagement

Players create and control virtual humans called Sims as they move into a house, start a career and build a family in "The Sims 3." Sims who are in love can become engaged. Just like in real life, however, an engagement is not always a guarantee for a wedding. You can decide your Sim wants to pursue a relationship with a different Sim and can always break the engagement or make it so your Sim's fiancee breaks up with him instead.

Instructions

Break Off an Engagement

  Click on your Sim to bring up his cell phone and invite the fiancee over to hang out. Your fiancee will come over a few moments later if she is not at work or sleeping.

  Click on the fiancee to bring up the social interactions menu.

  Click the 'Mean' menu button.

  Click the 'Break Up' option. Confirm your selection to end the relationship.
Get Dumped by Fiancee

  Build a romantic relationship with a Sim other than your fiancee by successfully performing romantic social interactions. Click on the Sim and select different options under the 'Romantic' social menu.

  Click on your Sim to bring up your cell phone and invite both the fiancee and the Sim he was flirting with over to hang out.

  Click on the other Sim when your fiancee is in eyesight and perform romantic social interactions.

  Repeat the romantic interactions until your fiancee becomes angry and breaks off the engagement.
