How to Convert Quake2 Maps to Quake3

"Quake 3 Arena" is a highly competitive multiplayer game released by id Software. The mantra of "fight or be finished" rules here, with harsh new environments and cunning opponents against whom you can test your skills. Many of the maps from "Quake 2" are beloved by players, and some wish that these maps had been ported over to "Quake 3 Arena." You can convert your favorites to be played in the "Quake 3 Arena" quickly and easily.

Things You'll Need

Q2toQ3A.exe (conversion program)
"Quake 2" maps
"Quake 2" and "Quake 3" Arena installed on your PC

Instructions

  Download Q2toQ3A.exe and open the program.

  Choose the following conversion options under each tab:
  
  General - normal conversion
  
  Lighting - Full Bright
  
  Music - Uncheck
  
  Skies - Blue
  
  Click "OK."

  Click "Convert" and choose the Quake 2 map you wish to convert. The program will ask for your "Quake 2" and "Quake 3" installation directories.
- 4
  Save the file in your Quake 3 Arena directory with the naming convention "nameofmap"_q3.bsp, replacing the quoted text with the appropriate name of the map.
