How to Make No$Gba Run Smoother

"No$GBA" is a freeware emulator for Windows and DOS-based computer systems. Emulators are special program that mimic the software and hardware profiles of specific game and operating systems, and you can use No$GBA to play games for the Nintendo Game Boy Advance and DS gaming systems. Because of the increasing complexity of game and game system designs, No$GBA's performance can be erratic when playing certain titles. You can improve your performance and make game play more smooth by ensuring your copy of No$GBA is up to date and by lowering certain settings, such as color count and audio quality.

  Update your version of No$GBA to the latest available. Newer versions are more optimized and allow you to run your games at higher speeds and with greater stability.

  Ensure that the "Emulation Speed, LCD Refresh" setting is set to the "Realtime, Auto" setting. Attempting to run No$GBA at high emulation speeds can cause game play to appear choppy as No$GBA attempts to process your game at the selected speed.

  Switch your "Video Output" settings to "15bit Color" or "8bit Monochrome." Lower color counts will allow No$GBA to process and display images faster, resulting in smoother performance.

  Set your "Sound Output Mode" to "Digital Mono" or "None" and your "Sound Desired Sample Rate" to "Medium [22kHz]" or "Low [10kHz]." Lowering sound quality or disabling sound output will free processor power that can then be used for processing game play.

  Emulate only one Game Boy at a time. Each emulated Game Boy requires its own processor power and memory access, and computers that cannot meet the demands of multiple emulated Game Boys will emulate games slowly and with uneven performance.

  Disable any other resource-intensive programs you are running, such as Internet browsers. This will allow No$GBA to use the processor power and memory used by these programs, improving performance.
