How to Raise a Druid on Diablo 2

The Druid character in "Diablo II" can be an immensely powerful character, even on the "Hell" difficulty setting, if raised correctly. There are two main types of Druid builds, with dozens of different variations within each type. "Caster" Druids focus on the Elemental and Summoning skills, whereas "Shifting" Druids focus on the Shapeshifter and Summoning skills. The Caster builds tend to be extremely effective in "Normal" mode and moderately effective in "Nightmare" mode, but are exceedingly tedious to play in "Hell" mode. The build in this guide explains how to raise a Wolf-Shifter druid than can easily finish "Hell" mode.

Instructions

  1. How to Raise a Druid in Diablo II

    • 1

Level the druid to level 30 and put a single point in all the skills necessary to activate "Fury" and "Maul" in the Shapeshifter skill tree and "Heart of the Wolverine," "Summon Grizzly," and "Spirit of Barbs" in the Summoning tree. You should put five points into the "Summon Wolves" skill and three points into the "Summon Dire Wolves" skill as you are leveling up because they'll make the task easier and buff the end-goal Summon Grizzly skill.

    • 2

Equip a two-handed axe as your primary weapon and gear that will provide the character with at least five percent health and mana steal. The two-handed axe will have lower strength requirements compared to the maul--the other favored shifter Druid weapon.

    • 3

Allocate attribute points until the druid has 165 Strength and 55 Dexterity--the requirements for the best Axe in the game. You can put three points into strength, one point into dexterity, and one point into vitality at each level until you hit the target Strength and Dexterity levels. Once you hit the desired Strength and Dexterity, place the leftover points into Vitality.

    • 4

Allocate extra skill points into the build's most-used skills until you've reached the optimal level. The optimal levels are 20 for Wereworld, 8 for Lycanthropy, 1 for Hunger, 20 for Fury, and 12 for Grizzly. You can put the additional points into the Spirit of Barbs and Heart of the Wolverine skills.
