How to Close FSX Views

Flight Simulator X (FSX) -- which was released by Microsoft in 2006 -- contains several innovative features that make it a popular choice for flight-simulator enthusiasts worldwide. One of these is the ability to create multiple views, each contained in its own window and representing a different view from your chosen plane's cockpit. With multiple views enabled, you increase your situational awareness while in flight. However, adding views also increases the graphical power that's needed to run the program. Closing unused views can reduce the strain on your system and only requires you to press a few buttons, allowing you to return to flying with little interruption.

Instructions

    • 1

Switch Flight Simulator X to Window Mode by pressing the "Alt" and "Enter" keys simultaneously. In Window Mode, FSX creates multiple windows for viewing your surroundings, with each view corresponding to the actual cockpit windows in an airplane.

    • 2

Cycle through the open views by pressing the "Ctrl" button. As you choose a view window, a square surrounds it to highlight it; the selected view then operates as the main view port, with a wide array of zoom and pan features available. Highlight a view that you wish to close; you can also select the view directly by clicking on the View window with the mouse button.

    • 3

Close the highlighted view by pressing the "]" button on your keyboard. After closing the view, the primary view reverts to the view out of the central cockpit window.
