How to Force Mass Effect 2 to Run on a Low End

"Mass Effect 2" is a science-fiction game released by Bioware in 2010. Like all computer games, this series iteration comes with video settings you can modify to suit your computer's needs, whether you are running a high-powered rig or a low-end computer. The first time you launch "Mass Effect 2," a dialog box appears with configuration settings you must establish, which includes your video settings. Lowering the settings as much as possible will allow the game to run on even lower powered computers.

Instructions

    • 1

Double click the Mass Effect 2 icon on your desktop. Wait for the configuration dialog box to appear.

    • 2

Click video on the left sidebar.

    • 3

Select windowed for the first option.

    • 4

Select the smallest option under resolution. Depending on your monitor and graphics card, this resolution will vary, but the most likely option is 640 x 480.

    • 5

Turn off any of the remaining options that you can. For example, you can disable high quality bloom, film grain, dynamic shadows, motion blur, light environment shadows and spherical harmonic lighting.

    • 6

Set the remaining options to the lowest variable possible. The remaining options include the number of cinematic lights and anisotropic filtering.
