How to Propose Romantic Interest on Sims 3

The virtual characters of "The Sims 3" have the ability to build relationships with one another that may eventually lead to romance. The first stage in a romantic relationship is called "Romantic Interest" in "The Sims 3." Your Sim and a Romantic Interest have many options for romance, including going out on dates or "making out" on the couch. However, you are not considered partners that are dating on a steady basis. To take the relationship to the Romantic Interest level, your Sim only needs to complete a successful romantic social interaction without rejection.

  Introduce your Sim to a potential romantic interest by clicking on the other Sim and selecting a greeting.

  Build your relationship with the other Sim to make it easier to transition into a romantic relationship. The better your friendship, the easier it is to successfully enter into a romantic relationship. Raise your friendship with the Sim by talking, playing games, sharing meals or inviting the Sim to hang out at your home or a community lot.

  Click on the potential romantic interest and select a social interaction from the romantic social menu. In some cases, if the Sims are compatible enough, a romantic interest can be built from just "Flirt" or "Amorous Hug." In other cases it will take a "First Kiss" or "Make-Out" interaction. Experiment with different romantic social interactions until the Sim becomes your romantic interest.

  Give your Sim traits that help with romantic interactions during the Create-A-Sim session at the start of the game or after your Sim celebrates a birthday. Romantic traits like Hopelessly Romantic, Charismatic and Flirty unlock additional romantic social interactions, such as "Confess Attraction."

  Select the "Apologize" social interaction if your potential romantic interest spurns your advances. This will help to mend the relationship so that you can rebuild the friendship and try different romantic interactions until you find the right one.
