Navigate your Internet browser to the "Sounds" section of the TF2 Dingalings Web site. Type a keyword in the search bar and select a category from the drop-down category menu. Select a file order option, such as by most downloads, submission date or size, and press the "Search" button to search for a hit sound.
Click the "Preview" button next to a sound to hear a preview of the sound. Click the sound's name in the left column of the search results page to visit the sound's page and click the "Download" link at the bottom of the sound's page. Select the "Save As" option when prompted to download the file and navigate the "Save As" window to your "Team Fortress 2" installation directory. "Team Fortress 2" is installed by default to "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\(user)\team fortress 2," where "(user)" is your Steam user name.
Double-click the "tf2" folder in your main "Team Fortress 2" installation directory, then double-click the "sound" folder. Double-click the "ui" folder, then type "hitsound" in the file name field and click the "Save" button to download the sound file.
Launch "Team Fortress 2" and click the "Options" button in the bottom right corner of the main menu. Click the "Multiplayer" tab, then click the "Advanced" button. Click the box next to "Play a Hit Sound Every Time You Injure an Enemy" so the box is checked, then click the "OK" button. "Team Fortress 2" will play the replacement hit sound you downloaded in place of the regular hit sound.
