How to Fix FFXI Motions

"Final Fantasy XI" ("FFXI") is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) made by Square Enix that takes place in a world called Vana'diel. "FFXI" has many interaction options players can perform via chat functions, such as motions. Motions are commands that make your character do things like waving, sitting or crying. Due to game glitches, your character can sometimes get stuck in a motion and be unable to return to his standard pose. Temporarily changing equipment or reloading your character are two solutions to this problem.

Instructions

  1. Changing Equipment

    • 1

Open the "FFXI" main menu from within the game -- on a computer, press the "-" key next to the "0" key; on the PlayStation 2, press the square button; on the Xbox 360, press the X button.

    • 2

Scroll down to "Equipment." Select it by pressing the confirm button, which is the Enter key on a computer, the X button on PlayStation 2 and the A button on Xbox 360.

    • 3

Hover over your body armor and remove it by pressing the confirm button twice. Immediately put it back on by pressing the confirm button twice again -- this will cause your character to temporarily disappear and refresh himself, fixing any appearance glitches.

    Reloading Your Character

    • 4

Move your character to the nearest Mog House.

    • 5

Log out of "FFXI" by opening the main menu and selecting "log out" or by typing "/logout".

    • 6

Wait until your character is completely out of the game and log back in. This refreshes your user interface and fixes appearance glitches.

    Calling a GM

    • 7

Call a Game Master for technical assistance by opening the main "FFXI" window and selecting "Help Desk."

    • 8

Briefly explain your problem in the box provided and click "OK." You will receive a message that confirms you have opened a GM ticket.

    • 9

Wait for the GM to send you an in-game message and further explain your problem to him; if your character is stuck, the GM will relocate him to remove the glitch.
