How to Import to Frets on Fire

Importing custom tracks into Frets on Fire will give you a wider range of song choices and the ability to master riffs that are much harder than the ones available in the default tracks. Frets on Fire was originally released as a freeware application in 2006 and has since spawned various modifications. By using the Frets on Fire importing tool and locating the proper file from your hard drive, you can import custom tracks into Frets on Fire.

Instructions

  1. Importing Custom Tracks

    • 1

      Open Frets on Fire. Allow the program to fully load. The main menu will appear. Using the arrow keys, scroll down to "Song Editor" and press the "Enter" key on the keyboard. A new set of options will appear.

      Use the arrow keys to scroll down to "Import New Song" and press the "Enter" key on the keyboard. A blank text field will appear. Type the name of the song, then press "Enter." You will be prompted to locate the "OGG" file from the hard drive.

      Navigate through your hard drive to the "OGG" file then press "Enter." The song has now been successfully imported into Frets on Fire.

    Importing Guitar Hero Tracks

      Place the "Guitar Hero" game disc into your computer's disc tray.

      Open Frets on Fire. Allow the program to fully load. The main menu will appear. Using the arrow keys, scroll down to "Song Editor" and press the "Enter" key on the keyboard. A new set of options will appear.

      Use the arrow keys to scroll down to "Import Guitar Hero Songs" and press the "Enter" key on the keyboard. You will be prompted to locate the "Guitar Hero" game disc. Select your computer's disc drive then click "Enter." The game will begin copying the tracks into the game. Upon completion the tracks will appear in the game's track list.
