How to Install Expansions on FFXI

"Final Fantasy XI" ("FFXI") has several expansion packs that you must manually install on your computer and bind them to your account by registering them within PlayOnline. These expansions unlock new areas, allow higher levels, and contain new jobs. You can buy the expansions separately or find combination packs such as the Vana'diel Collection, which includes all the expansions and facilitates the installation process. There are currently four expansion packs: Rise of the Zilart, Chains of Promathia, Treasures of Aht Urhgan and Wings of the Goddess.

Instructions

  Insert the Rise of the Zilart CD into your computer's CD-ROM drive. Read the license agreement and click "Accept."

  Enter your CD key when prompted, which you can find on the back of the booklet that came inside the game. Click "Next" to continue the installation until it finishes.

  Repeat the same process for the next three expansion packs, in this order: Chains of Promathia, Treasures of Aht Urhgan, Wings of the Goddess.

  Open PlayOnline from your desktop and log in to your account.

  Click "Next" or "OK" on all the alerts that appear until you reach the main screen, which has a "Play" button on top. Click "Content ID" and then "Register Expanded Content." Select the four expansions that you have just installed and click "Register" to bind them to your account and enable access to the new content.

  Click "Back" and then "Play"; confirm that the names of the expansions appear on the character log-in screen under the words "Final Fantasy XI." If they appear, your installation and registration was successful.
